5 Overrated Diets And Trends You Should Ignore

Having a healthy body and a perfect figure is everyone’s topmost priority. As long as we are in perfect health we can deal with all the challenges thrown our way and achieve everything we want.

While talking about health, it’s hard to ignore the fad diet trends that gain popularity from time to time. Just type in the word ‘diet’ in the google search bar and you will see a variety of health trends, making absurd claims about the results that are barely ever seen. Many people believe these claims and then end up being disappointed. So, to stop that from happening, here are 5 health trends that you must ignore for your own good.

1. Juice cleansing

In theory, it sounds like the perfect way of removing toxins from the body and restoring vitamins, however, the science behind it is a little iffy. In an effort to follow this health trend, you could be depriving your body of essential fiber that you need to keep you full for longer and to promote easy bowel movement. You do not need any cleansing diet to detoxify, your liver and kidneys do that for you daily.

2. Bulletproof coffee

This beverage was initially used among the mountaineers, who learned that consuming a huge amount of fat helps them sustain their energy for a longer time. This later gained popularity among dieters, who started adding butter, ghee, or coconut oil to their morning coffee and drinking that instead of their normal breakfast. The problem with bullet coffee is that it does not contain fiber, protein, and other essential nutrients, required for a healthy life. Moreover, taking an excessive amount of saturated fat can be harmful for those who are suffering from heart issues.

3. Gluten-free diet

A gluten-free diet is very overrated and is only useful for people who suffer from gluten intolerance. For the rest, it does not have many benefits. Cutting down gluten from your diet can cause digestive complaints and inflammatory conditions. Moreover, it can also cause deficiencies of several nutrients in the body. Most packaged products, labeled as gluten-free are not particularly good for your health. So, always read the label before you buy any product.

4. Activated charcoal products

In the past few years, there’s been a huge demand for activated charcoal products in the market. Supermarkets are often filled with products made from activated charcoal but have you ever thought how safe and effective they actually are? Experts say that the products made of activated charcoal contain substances that interfere with the absorption of vitamins and minerals in the body. Also, they can even cause side effects when mixed with your medications.

5. Sports drink

If you think that sports drinks are healthy, then you need to think again. The colorful drinks are often filled to the brim with sugar and by sipping on it, you are destroying your weight loss goal. Plain water is the perfect beverage for energizing between your workout sessions. Sports drinks contain electrolytes that compensate for the loss of potassium and sodium during the workout session in the form of sweat, but unless you are massively drained out, there’s no need to drink sports drinks.

Stay healthy, stay safe 🙂
